北京市二环路东北角 recently opened a unique store that has caught attention with its unconventional offerings and recruitment board for square dance "managers" at the entrance.

中新经纬 reporter visited Beijing Great Wall Silver Age Store to explore how this new business model caters to elderly consumers' diverse needs. The reporter assumed the role of an assistant salesperson during the visit.

The store spans approximately 500 square meters and features multiple sections including smart product experience areas, daily goods zones, and a样板间 for senior-friendly home modifications.

Despite its focus on elderly customers, the store's design and products do not compromise on style or modernity. The selection ranges from high-tech items like chess robots and exoskeletons to practical everyday products such as special老年 shoes and wheelchairs.

The store’s interior combines sleek aesthetics with elder-friendly features like AED machines and barrier-free designs, subtly signaling its purpose to serve the senior community.

Interestingly, all staff members at the store are young adults. The store manager mentioned that weekday foot traffic is relatively lighter compared to weekends, when families often come together to shop.

Throughout the day, customers kept coming in—some were local residents browsing casually, others had specific items on their list.

Among them was Li Hua (化名), a 60-something resident from Beijing's Haidian District. He browsed through products like bone conduction headphones and AI companions but was particularly drawn to the smart glasses.

As staff demonstrated, these glasses can display real-time translations of foreign languages on the lens, proving handy for international travel. Eager to try them out, Li Hua circled the counter several times with the glasses in hand.
